Choosing A Surgeon
One of the most important steps in deciding to go through with a Blepharoplasty, eye bag removal, or eye lid surgery is choosing an experienced surgeon. Depending on what kind of blepharoplasty you are having, you might even need to search further in order to find a surgeon who has experience with certain techniques, facial structure, or equipment.
Some of the things that an experienced surgeon will have or will have done include but are not limited to : completed 4-5 years of surgical training, has been a working surgeon for over 2 years, continues their education by taking required and ongoing classes to keep up with new practices/requirements in the medical field, and he/she should be certified by an accredited board.
For your cosmetic eye lid surgery, you may want to consider using an ophthalmic plastic surgeon rather than a cosmetic surgeon. This is because an opthalmic plastic surgeon has not only graduated from an accredited medical school, but they will have had extensive and additional training in regards to the eyes and the area around your eyes. Though a regular cosmetic surgeon may have the knowledge to complete the surgery, they may not be fully educated or experienced with all the complexities of the eye and the way that the eye should look before and after surgery.
Sharing your concerns about your appearance is a personal experience. For this reason you will want to find a surgeon whom you feel comfortable sharing feelings and information with. If you find a surgeon who is receptive to you, you will be much more likely to be happy with the results of your procedure.
